Caledonia AYSO Region 675

Weather Policy

In cases of severe weather or unsafe field conditions, AYSO may cancel games or practices.  If AYSO makes the decision to cancel, communication will be sent via email and posted on our official social media pages.  Cancellations will be decided no later than one hour before the first scheduled activity of the evening.

AYSO does not cancel practices or games due to rain alone. Soccer is an all-weather sport, and players should come prepared to play in light to moderate rain. However, safety always comes first—See thunder and lightning policy below.  Coaches may use their discretion to cancel if conditions become unsafe or unplayable, but rain itself is not considered a reason for automatic cancellation by AYSO.

Suspend all activity immediately and seek shelter. Activities may begin 30 minutes after the last thunder is heard or lightning is seen.

Cal AYSO Regional
Commissioner makes the determination to cancel if under 50°F. Coaches may cancel independently.

Games are played in cold temperatures. Players may wear long athletic pants instead of their shorts, they still need to wear their long socks over their shin guards. Players are encouraged to wear hats and gloves during cold weather. Coaches should consider having blankets for players that are sitting out to keep warm. These are our general guidelines for cold temperatures, however ALWAYS ASSUME THAT GAMES WILL BE PLAYED unless you are notified by Caledonia AYSO.

If the heat index is ~95°F+, use extra caution to ensure players are hydrating. The Regional Commissioner may cancel games and practices during heat events. ALWAYS ASSUME THAT GAMES WILL BE PLAYED unless you are notified by Caledonia AYSO.

Incident Reporting

If a player is injured in any way, an incident report should be filed.  Please fill out the incident report form OR report the incident to the coach admin who can help complete the form.

For the safety of players and the enjoyment of all, we ask all parents, guests, and spectators to please leave your pets at home when you attend any AYSO event. This is in line with AYSO National policy.

We know, your pet is another valued member of your family. However, because other may have allergies or be scared of animals, we don't allow pets on the fields. It is AYSO's goal to make your soccer season as safe as possible for you, your family, and even your pets. That's why we ask for you to leave your beloved family pet at home when you attend any AYSO event.

AYSO is obligated to observe and respect existing regulations and laws regarding the presence of service animals at our fields. Service animals are defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as only dogs or miniature horses that have been trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. Other animals, whether wild or domestic, do not qualify as service animals.
