Can I select specific practice days when I register?

No, unless you are the coach of an 8U & up team. Coaches choose their team’s practice night. This is one of the advantages to coaching your player’s team!
Our coaches are flexible. They will contact you regarding working out a practice night that works for all the players on the team.

Can I select a specific coach when I register?

No. We will not honor any requests for a specific coach. Coaches cannot request specific players.

Can I request that my player play with a specific player?

We will not honor player requests. If you coach with another parent then your players will be placed on the same team with both of the parents as the coaches.

My player's other parent registered my child, how do I log into their account?

The Primary Account User can send you an invite to be an Additional User on the account with which your child was registered. To invite an Additional User to your account, click on the gear icon in your account to Edit Account Info, scroll to the bottom of the Primary Parent/Guardian Info page, and click the green Add Secondary Account Holder button.

I don't see my Team Page.

You may have created an account separate from the account used to register your child. In order to view your child's Team Page, you must be logged in with a username associated with the account used to register your child. Only team members may view the Team Page. Have the Primary Account holder invite you to be an Additional User on their account or email our [email protected], to merge your separate account with the account used to register your child.

How do I know what team my player is on?

Your player's coach will contact you once they receive the team roster. This will be during August.

How do I know my player's game schedule?

Schedules are finalized prior to the start of the season. Coach will communicate schedules to you.

How many coaches are assigned per team?

At least one coach is assigned per team, preferably two. It all depends on the number of volunteers who have registered. If your player’s team has only one coach, please consider volunteering to be the assistant coach. Everyone needs a back-up.

Safety & Player Protection

The Caledonia AYSO Board wants to remind everyone of these important player protection polices. These AYSO Polices and IFAB/FIFA Laws of the Game are used to prevent injury to players while on the field. It is very important that players not use equipment or wear anything that may cause injury to themselves or others.

We want everyone to have a fun, positive, and safe soccer experience. Helping us prevent unnecessary injury goes a long way to accomplishing that goal.

LINK: IFAB Laws of the Game Player's Equipment

Referees, coaches and Region staff should consult the Laws of the Game for exact rules on player equipment and attire. In general, “A player must not use equipment or wear anything which is dangerous to themselves or another player.” The referee is the sole judge of whether or not the individual item in question is permissible to wear in the game.

Are players permitted to wear jewelry, earrings or studs?

Jewelry, including earrings, of any kind worn in any visible body piercing or any hard replacement stud used when the jewelry is not being worn must be removed before the player is allowed to participate in a practice or match. Covering the jewelry or hard replacement stud with tape, padding or bandage is not sufficient; the jewelry or hard replacement stud must be removed before playing. Subject to approval of the referee, various soft, flexible materials that present no danger to the player or other players may be used to keep recent body piercings open for participation during matches.

In the case of visible taped-over or bandaged suspected piercings, referees must not ask players to lift or remove articles of clothing or bandages. It is acceptable however, to ask a player if the tape or bandages is covering an earring. The referee must accept the answer provided, regardless of suspicion and if in the opinion of the referee, the item is deemed to be dangerous, the player will not be allowed to participate on that day.

Since it is rare that an earlobe or eyebrow is taped as the result of an injury, the referee should suspect that a player is using tape or other covering to hide jewelry or a hard replacement stud. It is the responsibility of the referee to ask the coach whether or not the player has been injured or is hiding jewelry or a hard replacement stud. This should be done in a cordial manner and in the presence of the player. An assistant referee or other official must also be present. Coaches have the responsibility of not allowing players wearing jewelry to participate in practices or matches.

If the coach confirms that it is an injury being covered, the referee may not prohibit the player from playing because of the tape or covering. In either case, the referee must indicate in his or her match report which players and coaches were questioned and their responses. Coaches and referees are role models and should avoid wearing jewelry, earrings and hard replacement studs during practices or matches.

IFAB Law 4.1

A player must not use equipment or wear anything that is dangerous.
All items of jewelry (necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, leather bands, rubber bands, etc.) are forbidden and must be removed. Using tape to cover jewelry is not permitted.

May players wear gloves?

Goalkeepers are traditionally allowed to wear gloves. Other players may also wear gloves if, in the opinion of the referee, the equipment poses no danger.

Players may be allowed to wear soft hats or caps without brims. They must not constitute a danger to the player or to other players and must be approved by the referee. Goalkeepers may wear a brimmed hat or cap. In addition to the above requirements the brim must also be made of a soft material and must be approved by the referee. Baseball-style caps with hard brims are not acceptable even if worn backwards.

Are there any special requirements for soccer shoes and shinguards?

Soccer shoes and shinguards made by any established soccer equipment manufacturer are acceptable. Other shoes are acceptable if, in the opinion of the referee, they are not dangerous to the player wearing them or to another player and the shinguards afford the player a reasonable degree of protection. A piece of cardboard, rolled up newspaper or similar makeshift items do not constitute proper shinguards. The referee must inspect all cleats to ensure there are no sharp edges; this is especially important for aluminum and nylon cleats.

Shinguards must be completely covered by the player’s stockings. Players are not allowed to wear their shinguards over their stockings and then roll the stockings down over the shinguards. The shinguards must be worn completely under the stockings.

Can players wear Medical Alert Bracelets?

Children may participate in matches and practices while wearing medical alert bracelets. It is important that this information remains visible. However, to ensure the bracelet does not present a danger to the player or other players it must be secured to the player with tape, a cloth wristband or something equivalent, taking care to leave the information visible.

We must all recognize that if the bracelet is removed and lost or hidden in any way, the child might be put in danger particularly if the parents are not present to ensure that the medical condition is known. Medical alert sports bands with a snug-fitting, soft, polyester ribbon band are available and should be permitted without modification.

May a player wear a cast or splint?

AYSO National Rules and Regulations paragraph VI.K. states:
“Players shall not be allowed to practice or participate in any match with any type of cast or splint.”

May a player remove a cast or splint in order to participate?

AYSO National Rules and Regulations paragraph VI.K. states:
“Removal of any type of cast or splint at the field or surrounding area in order to participate shall disqualify the player from any practice session or match.”

Removable casts are designed to facilitate personal hygiene and dressing; they are not designed to be removed so that a player may engage in contact sports.

Are players permitted to wear knee braces?

AYSO National Policy Statement 2.9 titled “Knee Braces” reads as follows:

AYSO will not prohibit the use of knee braces by players in AYSO events and programs, provided that the knee brace is adequately covered and padded, in the opinion of the referee, so as to eliminate the possibility of its use causing injury to other players on the field of play.

The difference between casts or splints and knee braces is that a cast or splint is used for the treatment of a temporary injury to provide for healing. The use of a knee brace is different in that it is used to provide support and/or flexibility.

Are players permitted to wear any other kind of medical devices?

If the device is needed to restrict mobility, protect an injury or support proper alignment to expedite the healing process of a temporary injury and is hard (cast, splint, etc.) then this is not allowed.

If the protective device is used to provide support, flexibility or enable an otherwise healthy player to function normally (knee brace, prosthesis, hearing aid, insulin pump, etc.), it is allowed provided it is sufficiently padded.

The referee is the sole judge of whether or not the individual item in question is permissible to wear in the match.

May players wear glasses?

Players who require prescription glasses are allowed to wear them. Retaining straps or rubber bands are recommended. Prescription goggles are also permitted subject to referee approval. Spectacle guards made of hard material are not permitted.

May players wear hearing aids?

Players who normally wear hearing aids are allowed to wear them during practices or matches.

Are players permitted to wear mouthguards?

AYSO does not prohibit mouthguards. Players wearing mouthguards should not be prevented from participating.

May players wear additional protective equipment?

Modern protective equipment made of soft, lightweight, padded material is permitted. Hard face masks similar to those used in hockey or football are not allowed.

The referee has the obligation and right to allow or disallow equipment based on safety.

May players wear sweatbands, bandanas, scarves or hair-securing items?

Items used for hair control, perspiration absorption, or religious purposes may be permitted at the referee’s discretion. Items must be neutral in color and free of inappropriate designs or messages.

Stack Team App

Caledonia AYSO uses the Stack Team App for team communication. Within this app coaches and players will be able to view the roster, schedule, and have a team chat to keep in touch. Your team in the app will automatically update with any roster or schedule changes.

Will game schedules be automatically added?

Yes. The app is vertically integrated with our entire system so once the schedule is input into our website it will show both on the website and the app for players and coaches.

Why do we need another app?

It's meant to make managing teams and communications easier for coaches, especially those that are managing multiple teams (thank you to those volunteers). As you all know AYSO is a volunteer organization, board members and coaches, so we want to make their lives as easy as possible so they can focus on coaching. Some coaches requested the app, having used one with another organization. Using the app is not mandatory but solely up to the coaches. If they choose to use email they can, we just want to provide opportunities and tools to help them help our players.

How do I add a second parent to the team?

To have a second parent or other parties added to the team chat and info on the app, the main account holder tied to the player needs to add an additional user. They can do so by logging into their account at www.calayso.org and clicking the gear in the upper right hand side of their screen, scrolling to the bottom and clicking "Add Additional Account Holder." When they enter the information an email will be sent to that person and they will need to accept the invitation to be added to the account. Once this is complete they will be able to access the chats and information on the app for their shared player.

Are there practice times or just games?

The games are automatically loaded by our scheduling board member. Practice times and schedules will need to be added by the coaches themselves as they pick the time and might need to change things around. Using the app for practice times is definitely recommended so that everyone is in the loop but is completely up to the coach for your team.

Will all AYSO teams be using the app?

All AYSO teams have been enrolled, whether or not the app gets used will be completely up to the coach. Some coaches might find it beneficial while others will have their own systems in place that helps them succeed. Our region won't put out a mandate either way, we will just provide the tools we have for use to help coaches focus more on their team and enriching their players.

Where can I find the practice schedule?

The practice schedule will be found in the same place as the games. On the main menu select Schedule, then your team and if your coach has added the practice schedule it will be right there.

How do I connect to our Team?

Simply log in with your email that you used to sign up your player on the calayso.org site. All of the information is the same. If you aren't the main account holder, you will need to be added to the player as an additional user. Please see above. We are Region 675 and it should appear once you login with your Calayso.org credentials.

How do I access the app? Do I have to download it?

You can access the app in a couple of ways. Depending on how you like to interact with things on the web, you can go to Teamapp.com and login there from any web browser. It's great for larger screens and seeing things at home or on your laptop etc. If you want to receive push notifications, and do things more on the go, you can download the app to your phone. You can find it on the Appstore for iOS and in the playStore for Android. The easiest way to find it for either device is to go to teamapp.com and follow the link that corresponds with your device.

Is this for communications from AYSO, individual team or both?

For right now it's for teams. Communications from the board will remain coming via email as they have in the past unless there is a way that we can use both methods to make sure that everyone gets the messages or we can post to both at the same time
